Doggy Portraits: Fun Art Activity for Dog-Loving Kids

Indoors

Kids love to get creative, and what better inspiration than their favorite four-legged friend? Drawing or painting a picture of the family dog is a simple activity that gives your child a sweet way to show love without hugging, kissing, or climbing on the dog.

Insights from Emme: The picture the kids colored for Izzy is still hanging above her water bowl in my office. Every time I catch a glimpse of it, it brings a smile to my face and reminds me of those precious moments when the kids exclaim, “Izzy is my best friend!”

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Markers, crayons, or paint
  • Coloring pages. Print a dog outline or find coloring pages of a favorite book character.
  • A tray or an old tablecloth for painting

  • Inside the Lola and the Bubble Mission book, you'll find a QR code for a free matching coloring book and printable Mission Badges. It’s the perfect way to turn pet safety into an interactive family activity and reward your little ones for respecting their dog's bubble!

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1: Let your child draw or color a picture.

Step 2: Hang it somewhere your dog can “see it” (on the fridge, by their water bowl or toy bin)

Step 3: Encourage your child to talk to the dog about their drawing - “Lola, this is you at the park. Remember when you found that tennis ball in the bushes?” - so it becomes another safe way to interact with their dog in a non-physical manner.
